Make a uniquely designed floor cloth with acrylics using the traditional process of floor cloth construction.  No acrylic painting experience is necessary.  Create your own design, or Jean will have a couple of designs to choose from.  Map out the design onto the canvas, choose from a selection of paint colors and add your creative details. The floor cloth will be approximately 2’ by 3. The material fee will cover the primed floor cloth, paint, glue and protective polyurethane finish. Bring: large and small paint brushes.

During this course, you will explore the creative process of songwriting as you join Theresa Kipp, accomplished singer/songwriter, in the "How To's" of crafting original songs. You will examine your creative potential as we touch upon techniques for developing song structure, writing song lyrics, creating melody and harmony, and applying the principles of rhythm. You are guaranteed a fun, lighthearted, creative experience.

Learn to play the ukulele! It has never been more popular and you don’t even have to know how to read music! On the uke you can knock out folk music, rock, blues, jazz, pop, country, tunes old and new -- even classical music. Duncan Perry, who has taught more than 700 students of all ages, will introduce you to essential chords and playing techniques using commonly known songs. You will need a playable ukulele and an electronic tuner or a tuner app. If you don’t own a ukulele, please contact us for information. Learn the art of nuno felting! This exciting but simple technique involves applying a thin layer of silk to merino wool using a lamination process with water, a little soap, and gentle agitation. Students will create a colorful, artistic multi textured scarf they can wear year-round! Please note that wet felting can be a physical process. You must feel comfortable with a rolling pin type of motion that is used to meld the fibers together. You can use your hands, fore arms or even feet! The felting is done in 5-minute increments so you can pace yourself. Bring 2 towels and some sharp scissors. (Ages 16+).

Sgraffito (in Italian "to scratch") is a decorating pottery technique produced by applying layers of color or colors (underglazes or colored slips) to leather hard pottery and then scratching off parts of the layer(s) to create contrasting images, patterns and texture and reveal the clay color underneath. Lessons include hand-building techniques. Limit 6.

Principal Race Officer Tom Brown brings his 20+ years in the Committee Boat to this course covering yacht racing and the the New, Updated Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2025-2028.  Sail handling, trim, and choices are discussed.  Tactics, Conduct of a Race, Scoring and the Appendices are also on the table.  New and seasoned racers alike will benefit from lively discussions and on-the-race-course examples. The course is geared to the sailors in the classroom.
