Digital Photo 1 - Beginners

Are you still getting to know your digital camera and its features? Here’s an opportunity to learn from an expert in this seminar for beginners! Have your camera ready, learn when and how to use its special features - such as program mode, manual mode, aperture priority, and shutter priority. Also covered will be basic composition and best use of light for different situations, such as plant, people, macro, and landscape photography. This class is virtual only. You will be sent a ZOOM link prior to the start of class.
Beginner Swing Dancing

Beginner swing dancing is fun, active, and social! You don't need a partner for in-person classes and you don't need any experience. This 7-week progressive session will cover the basics of 8-count Lindy Hop (also known as "swing" or "jitterbug"). A 15-minute practice session follows the class. Students should wear comfortable clothing and bring clean, smooth-soled shoes to change into at the class venue to keep the floor clean. Masks are optional but strongly suggested to protect the health of our community members. Missed classes can be made up with a video replay online. Class meets at The Dance Hall, 7 Walker St. Kittery.
Fee: $84
Weather cancellations: If a class needs to be canceled due to weather, students will be notified via email and on the Lindy Maine Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/lindyhopmaine.
Paper Quilling

Paper Quilling looks intricate and complicated, but it is surprisingly simple. In this class you will learn the art of rolling and scrolling pre-cut strips of quilling paper with a quilling tool, start a reference card of shapes and complete your first project. Kits available for purchase. Bring to class: Materials list supplied at registration.

Paper has been around for 2000 years and we are going to explore all facets of it! Starting with making sheets of paper, to marbling paper, to binding books, to sculpting, as well as creating amazing cards.

Learn to play the ukulele! It has never been more popular and you don’t even have to know how to read music! On the uke you can knock out folk music, rock, blues, jazz, pop, country, tunes old and new -- even classical music. Duncan Perry, who has taught more than 700 students of all ages, will introduce you to essential chords and playing techniques using commonly known songs. You will need a playable ukulele and an electronic tuner or a tuner app. If you don’t own a ukulele, please contact us for information. Here’s your chance to find out how to play this wonderfully versatile, go anywhere instrument in our no-stress program for beginners. Prior to class, you will be sent a ZOOM link to join this class virtually.

Sgrafitto Plate (Beginner) Pottery Hand Building techniques

Sgraffito (in Italian "to scratch") is a decorating pottery technique produced by applying layers of color or colors (underglazes or colored slips) to leather hard pottery and then scratching off parts of the layer(s) to create contrasting images, patterns and texture and reveal the clay color underneath. Lessons include hand-building techniques. Homework includes making the sgrafitto base into a heavy cream. Class size limited to 6. 3 Wednesday sessions, Sept 27-Oct 18 6:30-8:30 p.m. * no class 10/11
