Behavior Health Professional Training

Children’s Behavioral Health Services are vital to Maine’s children with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism and Mental Health Disorders and their families. The need in our area is great!
We are excited to connect our adult education community with this wonderful ONLINE training program. This online training is Free. The training will prepare you for employment through local social services agencies and the school districts.
The program can be started at any time and finished at your own pace. You will complete 12 online modules then 3, 4-hour live sessions, including the new ethics and boundaries training.
Once the modules are completed, participants that do not already possess CPR certification will be required to complete either in-person or blended Child & Adult CPR/FA training. You can take CPR through Adult Education or Woodfords Services.
The entire training requirements will take about 45 hours. Any individual who will be 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or equivalency upon completion of the course may register.

Askable Adult
with Gretchen Rice
The Askable Adult Campaign is brought to us by The Vermont Network (https://www.vtnetwork.org/askableadult/). This training focuses on how adults can be more approachable and easier for youth to talk to. During our 4 sessions we will have time to reflect, build skills, and build a community of askable adults to lean on in the community. Gretchen is a Preventionist at SARSSM with a background in education and engineering. She has been at SARSSM since January 2024 and loves bringing education to the community.

Digital Photo 2 - Intermediate
with Steve McGrath
You are comfortable with your camera and you want more! Explore the use of intermediate camera controls such as metering (spot, matrix, center weight), exposure and exposure compensation, ISO, aperture and shutter priority. This class is virtual only. You will be sent a ZOOM link prior to the start of class.

A Library of Hand Bound Books
with Gayle Fitzpatrick
In this class, students will create 6 book structures: a simple pamphlet book a Japanese Stab Bound book, a basic Codex, a hard cover accordion book, a hard cover book with signatures sewn on tapes, and flutter books. Class will focus on the techniques, structures, tools, materials and processes.

Macrame Ornaments

Learn how to make macrame ornaments! During this class you will learn how to make three unique styles of macrame ornaments, and have the opportunity to make multiples! They make wonderful and unique decorations as well as holiday gifts! All supplies included.
Holiday Wreath Decorating
with Mary Alice LaPoint
Decorate a beautiful holiday wreath using natural items such as holly, pinecones, balsam, and recycled Christmas decorations. You will receive a fresh balsam wreath to decorate. Participants are encouraged to bring unused Christmas decorations they have around the house, or greens from your property, giving them a new life on your wreath, or share with the group. If time allows you may also make a swag too. All materials included.

This portrait photography course is designed to teach you everything you need to know to take professional-quality portraits. You will learn how to work with all different types of subjects, from individuals and groups to children and pets. Steve will explain the nuances of lighting and posing, how to shoot in studio or on location, and how to master the gear you will need to create inspiring work! This class is virtual only.
