Outsmart Your Smartphone

Learn how to navigate commonly-used features of your Android or Apple smartphone, including downloading apps, taking photos, and sending messages. You’ll also learn how to tailor your settings to get the most out of your phone. Registrants are asked to please bring their own devices to this class. Class meets at Rice Library

Social Security: Your Questions Answered

Social Security: Your Questions Answered is an educational program for people who are nearing retirement, ages 55 and up who have questions about social security. During this seminar we'll help answer these questions: How does Social Security fit into my retirement income plan? When should I start taking benefits? What about taxes?

Sushi Made Simple

Sushi may seem mysterious and exotic but making great sushi at home is something anyone can do. Join this fun, hands-on adventure into the art of sushi rolling. Participants will choose from a wide assortment of sushi fillings, making it fun to customize your own rolls to eat during class. A full meal will be served including miso soup and a dessert, both made with sea vegetables. Everyone will receive a bamboo mat to roll their own sushi and bring home afterwards. No raw fish will be served. This class is vegan-friendly. Please bring a cutting board, sharp, non-serrated knife, large bowl, and a cotton dish towel. Cost includes all food. Children ages 12 and older are welcomed to register with a registered adult. Carol Steingart is a marine educator, owner of Coast Encounters, LLC, and specializes in unique programs centered around Maine’s rocky intertidal region.

Acrylic Painted On Floor Cloth
with Jean Schwab
Make a uniquely designed floor cloth with acrylics using the traditional process of floor cloth construction. No acrylic painting experience is necessary. Create your own design, or Jean will have a couple of designs to choose from. Map out the design onto the canvas, choose from a selection of paint colors and add your creative details. The floor cloth will be approximately 2’ by 3. The material fee will cover the primed floor cloth, paint, glue and protective polyurethane finish. Bring: large and small paint brushes.

Beginning Acrylic Painting
with Gayle Fitzpatrick
This class covers composition, color theory, and color mixing as well as materials and techniques. You’ll learn and practice the fundamentals of painting with acrylics. Class time will provide time for experimentation, creativity and the opportunity to work on your own projects with guidance from the instructor. Please Bring: Material List
