Sailboat Racing - NEW RULES FOR 2025!!

Principal Race Officer Tom Brown brings his 20+ years in the Committee Boat to this course covering yacht racing and the the New, Updated Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2025-2028. Sail handling, trim, and choices are discussed. Tactics, Conduct of a Race, Scoring and the Appendices are also on the table. New and seasoned racers alike will benefit from lively discussions and on-the-race-course examples. The course is geared to the sailors in the classroom.

Portsmouth Naval Shipyard: From Sails to Atoms

Portsmouth Naval Shipyard has a venerable heritage and rich tradition. Learn about its role and achievements in times of war and peace from a military historian’s perspective. The tour includes a visit to the Shipyard’s Treaty of Portsmouth exhibit, a walking tour of the Shipyard Mall area, a driving tour around the perimeter of the base, including an up-close view of the former Naval Prison’s exterior, and lastly a visit to the Shipyard’s Heritage Center. Must bring valid photo REAL I.D. Driver’s License or U.S. Passport. Non U.S Citizens will be required to submit additional documentation in advance. Participants must be able to use the bus and negotiate stairs. Neither the bus nor comfort facilities are handicapped accessible. *You will park at Albacore Park, 569 Submarine Way, Portsmouth NH to board the bus. The Park would like us to use the back parking lot furthest away from the Submarine and Visitor Center.

Fix-a-Bike
with Bicycle Coalition of Maine
Be your own mechanic! Learn how to maintain your bike, fix a flat, pump up a tire, change a chain or cable, make shifting adjustments, and more in a hands-on learning experience. Please bring your bike and be willing to get their hands dirty. Class may take place outside, weather permitting.

Crafting for a Cause: Zero Waste Leather Earrings for Unique Gifts!

In this workshop, students will create lightweight earrings from tie-dyed and patent leather remnants, paired with sterling silver components. Design eco-friendly gifts while embracing a zero-waste philosophy!
As a self-taught artist and maker committed to zero waste values, Francine is passionate about teaching skills that inspire creativity and innovation, encouraging students to explore new materials and ideas beyond leather in their crafting journeys. Students can choose how many pairs of earrings they want to make. Max 10 students.

Bird walk at Rustlewood Farm

Let’s look for spring migrants in a rural setting. Meet at parking lot. Bring binoculars. Footing may be uneven and/or damp. Limit 12. Rustelwood Farm is located at 110 Wilson Road. There is a small parking area approximately 1/4 mile past the Johnsons farm on the right if you're coming from Kittery. The parking lot is just before the Purple Heart Town sign.

Circular Weaving

This exciting new series will immerse you in a new and playful artistic practice! This class is perfect for beginner and experienced weaving alike as weaving in the round is a whole new process! During this class you will learn how to warp your loom, experiment with a variety of weaving techniques, play with color and composition, and ultimately create your own beautiful work of art. All materials are included in this class, there will be a large selection of yarns in various colors and textures, although participants are always welcome to bring yarn for themselves or even to share! In addition to hands-on instruction, this series will give you the opportunity to sit back and weave with your classmates! There is a social element to weaving that has been treasured across cultures for centuries. It has long been seen as not only a practical skill, but a significant social activity!

You will learn how to make a selection of bath and beauty products perfect for the home spa experience. In the class, we will make all natural solid lotion bars, cleansing sugar scrub cubes and dry face masks. You will leave the class with 2 mini solid lotion bars, a jar of cleansing sugar scrub cubes and a dry face mask. You will also leave with the recipes used in the class.
