Felted Woodland Creatures
with Jennifer Field
In this fun & colorful 3-night workshop, students will explore needle felting techniques to "sculpt" wool fleece into a woodland animal. Either a fawn or a fox. Students will learn how to create a sturdy wire skeleton (armature), about animal proportions and how to sculpt a solid core in natural undyed wool fleece, using very sharp barbed needles. Day two students will focus on applying color and finishing details. Glass eyes created by the instructor will bring your creation to life. This is an advanced beginner friendly class, meaning some creative experience. Felting or sculptural experience is helpful. Bring to class: a 3 needle Pink Clover pen holder (they are available online or from instructor for $14), bring a pen and sketchbook (for notes), if you own them, bring wire cutters, needle nose pliers and small SHARP scissors (instructor will bring some to share). Extra needles, glass eyes, wire, needle holders and fleece will be available for purchase from instructor.
