Advanced Beginning German

This course is a continuation from last semester. Previous experience necessary or teacher approval. Form a strong base in conversational German as all aspects of the language, its dialect and culture are explored through books, music and group discussions. Pronunciation and grammar will be emphasized and practiced with writing, speaking, reading, and listening.

Guided Tour of the Portsmouth Black Heritage Trail -

Calendar Apr 28, 2018 at 2 pm, runs for 1 week

With tour guide, JerriAnne Boggis you will visit local wharves and auction sites related to the Atlantic Slave Trade, where a captive could be exchanged for “cash or good lumber” to serve in the master’s house or work on the docks or on a ship.   You will also tour a selection of sites where early black residents lived, worked , prayed and are buried. You will learn of their stories and how they shaped the community.

Meet at the BHTNH office in the South Meetinghouse (previously Children's Museum) at 280 Marcy Street. Please meet JerriAnne there on Saturday.

Unfortunately, parking cannot be gauranteed, so please allow additional time to find a place -- there's free parking nearby on Four Tree Island, aka Peirce Island, and at the South Mill Pond (Pleasant St.), then the Hanover Parking Garage has an hourly rate.

Marine Research at the UNH Marine Lab

Located on the picturesque mouth of the Piscataqua River in NewCastle, NH the UNH Marine Lab Center supports a variety of marine-related projects and ongoing research as part of its mission for the Seacoast and the Gulf of Maine. Embark on a walking tour of the Marine Lab and it's current research projects being carried out by UNH Faculty, students, and associated scientists. Learn about lobster mating, jonah crab growth, see lumpfish and other marine creatures along the way. Bring your favorite marine biology questions for an interactive tour and discussion. Please meet at the Public Parking lot at the UNH Judd Gregg Marine Research Center.

Walking Tour of Fort Foster

Come and enjoy a walk through Fort Foster. On this tour you will see and learn about the history of the structures that are there now and see the sites of others that no longer exist. We will be walking a large part of the Fort, so please wear appropriate shoes. While dogs are allowed at Fort Foster, we ask that you leave yours at home for this tour. But be sure to bring your camera or cell phone. Meet at entrance of Fort Foster.

Walking Tour of Fort McClary

Stroll with us through the grounds of this iconic Kittery fort and see and learn about it’s important features and people. While this tour is not long, the ground is uneven in places, so please wear appropriate shoes, and don’t forget your camera/cell phone. Meet at entrance of Fort McClary.
