Sailboat Racing

Principal Race Officer Tom Brown brings his 20+ years in the Committee Boat to this course covering yacht racing and the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2021-2024.  Sail handling, trim, and choices are discussed.  Tactics, Conduct of a Race, Scoring and the Appendices are also on the table.  New and seasoned racers alike will benefit from lively discussions and on-the-race-course examples. The course is geared to the sailors in the classroom.

Beginners Stand Up PaddleBoard Yoga

Bring your Yoga practice outdoors, connect with nature, and try something new!  We will review basic paddle techniques and safety instructions prior to anchoring down for a 60 minute relaxing SUP Yoga Class.  No Experience Necessary. You must be able to Swim. Cheryl is a 500 RYT Yoga Instructor and Maine Registered Guide. She is an Occupational Therapist, Nutritionist, Life Coach, Snowboard Instructor and Owner of a small Kittery Based Business, Tides of Life SUP Yoga. Paddleboard, Anchor, PDF Life Vest, and a Paddle are provided. Bring to Class: Arrive in clothing that can get wet and are comfortable to move in. Limited to 7. Class Meets at Cutts Island Trail/Rachel Carson Wildlife Refuge at 3 Seapoint Road in Kittery Point, Maine. Parking along side of road.

Beginners Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Basics and Tour.

Learn to SUP with a Maine Registered Guide in a quiet Estuary in Kittery Point, Maine. No experience necessary however must be able to swim. Please wear clothing that you can move comfortably in, can get wet, and will dry quickly. We begin our evening with reviewing The Basics of a SUP,  the equipment being used, all safety precautions related to tidal waters, the importance of Boating Laws in Maine as related to the SUP as a vessel, and how to safely launch your SUP, how to enter and exit every body of water, and review wet suit/dry suit benefits. Basic SUP (Five) Paddle strokes are reviewed on land and in the water. After mastering initial safe entry on your SUP and have learned to paddle, we take a short tour of this local estuary and enjoy some local Maine history and perhaps get a glimpse of local Maine Birds. Open to Beginners with all equipment included: Paddleboard, Paddle, leash, and Coast Guard Approved (PFD) Personal Flotation Device with whistle. Limited to 6. Class Meets at Cutts Island Trail/Rachel Carson Wildlife Refuge at 3 Seapoint Road in Kittery Point, Maine. Parking along side of road.
